Writing articles is one way to monetize your website. Unfortunately many of us are afraid to even attempt to write an article. We give answers like 'no one will read it' or 'I'm no expert'. Remember, once you begin writing articles with good, clear, factual information then you will become an expert in no time.
Here are 5 tips to help you with your article writing:
- Define your target audience. Learn what your audience wants from your articles. Your audience usually reads your articles to help solve a problem. Visit your niche forums or ask your contact list exactly what they want and need. What are their most common questions and pressing issues? Do they want straight facts or can you solve their problem in the form of a story? As you learn more about your readers you can then create more highly-targeted articles.
- Choose an Effective Title. The title of your article is usually the 'hook' to get the reader to continue looking at your article. You want to make the title jump out at the reader. Don't forget, your article will be shown along with a number of different articles in the same niche. Many of the articles will have a similar title as your title. Uniqueness counts because your title will stand out from the rest.
- Keyword Titles. If possible, have at least one major keyword in your title. Why? Because the proper use of keywords is one way you will get your article highly ranked on the search engines.
- Make Your Articles Scannable to the Eye. Make sure that you use everyday language in your articles - formal language and $10 dollar words usually turn people off in today's times. Folks are very busy and sometimes will just look at the article title and possibly the first paragraph and maybe the bio but won't read the entire article. They hopefully will save the article as a computer file or print it out for further reading.
- Bring Your Reader Back. You should always include a link to another article written by you or directly to your website to get even more information. Also, people want to know about you as the author. Give them a little information about yourself so they know that you're a real person. You'd be surprised how many more people will come back because of your name recognition.
